Jack Of All Trades: MI Outshine SRH in Style

In a compelling contest at the Wankhede Stadium on April 17, 2025, the Mumbai Indians (MI)
finally secured wins in successive games with a four-wicket victory over the Sunrisers
Hyderabad (SRH). This win marked MI’s third in seven matches, elevating them to seventh
place in the IPL 2025 standings. Knowing the hitting prowess of the SRH batsmen, MI prepared
a two paced wicket for their home game, which their bowlers were able to take full advantage of.

Sun Shy Of Rising

Winning the toss, SRH chose to bat and just as MI had hoped for, the flamboyant SRH batsmen
struggled on the two paced wicket. SRH however managed to hit five sixes in the last 17 balls of
the innings and posted a respectable total of 162/5. Heinrich Klaasen stood out for SRH scoring
37 off 28 balls.

For MI the match panned out better than they had expected with Will Jacks, who was asked to
bowl due to an injury to Karn Sharma, outperformed the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya,
Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar. Jacks made breakthroughs taking the 2 crucial wickets of
Ishan Kishan and Travis Head.

Jack Of All Trades

Will Jacks (36 off 26) once again took charge of MI’s batting. His performance was
complemented by Ryan Rickelton’s 31, who was involved in a controversial no-ball decision
involving SRH’s wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen. Despite some hiccups, Suryakumar Yadav (26)
and Hardik Pandya (21) managed to level the score at 17.1 overs which did not change for the
next five balls. MI finally achieved the target in 18.1 overs, finishing at 166/6.

One More Record For Rohit

Rohit Sharma became the first batter to smash 100 sixes in IPL at the iconic Wankhede
Stadium, where soon a stand will be named after him.

With this victory, MI improved their standing, holding three wins from seven matches. While
SRH, continue to seek consistency as the tournament progresses.
