Delhi Capitals, Royally Challenged: Sweet Revenge For RCB

In a thrilling encounter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a sweet six-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC), at their home ground – Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 27. This has propelled RCB to the top of the IPL 2025 standings.

Delhi Capitalise On their Innings

RCB winning the toss, asked DC to bat first. KL Rahul anchored the innings with a steady 41 off 39, while Tristan Stubbs added momentum with his brisk 34 off 18 balls. However, RCB’s bowling despite running into an over-rate penalty, was disciplined. Led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar
(3/22), RCB bowlers restricted DC to a total of 162/8.

RCB Sweets Revenge

RCB had a shaky start, losing 3 wickets for just 26 runs. Axar Patel’s double strike and a run-out by Karun Nair, put DC in a commanding position. However, Virat Kohli (51 off 47 balls) along with Krunal Pandya (73* off 47) turned the tide. Their 119-run stand stabilized the innings and helped RCB reaching the target in 18.3 overs. Krunal Pandya was declared Player Of The Match.

Royal Banter

The match saws some high tension drama as Kohli complained to KL Rahul about them taking too long to set the field. KL Rahul argued back that RCB themselves had been penalised for slow over rate. Their rivalry reached a peak as Kohli walked up to Rahul and recreated the actions done by Rahul in the Bengaluru match a few days ago after DC won against RCB. However, the two Indian teammates shared a laugh and hugged each other.

This victory marks RCB’s seventh win of the season, elevating them to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. Conversely, DC’s loss keeps them in the fourth position, intensifying the competition for playoff spots.
