Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine Spins Magic As Delhi CapitalsCrumble

Another 200 plus target, another thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, saw the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) edge out the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 14 runs.

KKR Rising

Axar Patel won the toss for DC and put KKR into bat first. Despite a strong start, there was a slump in the mid innings. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44 off 32 balls) stabilized the innings. DC bowlers while kept taking wickets, could not stop the flow of runs. Late contributions from Rinku Singh (36 off 25 balls) propelled KKR to a formidable total of 204/9.

DC Batsmen Fail to Capitalise As KKR Take Charge

With a target of 205 to chase, DC went in with the plan to attack the spinners. Faf Du Plessis (62 off 45 balls), Axar Patel (43 off 23 balls) and Vipraj Nigam (38 off 19 balls), with their batting made the total look within their grasp. Untill, Sunil Narine (3/29) struck, with his partner in crime Varun Chakaravarthy (2/39) applied pressure on the DC batsmen to restrict them to 190/9.

Sunil Narine was awarded The Player Of The Match award for his all round performance with his bat and ball.

This match has helped KKR keep their dream alive of reaching the playoffs!

Talking Points

  • Axar Patel who got injured while fielding is expected to recover before the next match. An update on his injury will be shared in a few days.
  • This match too had its share of controversies. In an incident which took people back to the time when Harbhajan had slapped Sreesanth, Kuldeep Yadav slapped Rinku Singh twice, in the post match telecast. While many felt it was done in a playful way, it had others up in arms, seeing Rinku Singh’s shocked face, requesting BCCI to take strict action against Kuldeep.

What was the highlight of this match for you?
