This IPL weekend had fans buzzing with anticipation—and it delivered beyond expectations, serving up high-octane action, nail-biting finishes, standout performances, and game-changing shifts in the points table.
Gujarat Titans Crush Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad’s High-Scoring Thriller
Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 match on Saturday in Ahmedabad. Axar Patel (39 in 32 balls) and Ashutosh (37 in 19 balls) led the charge for DC to post a high score of 203/8. For GT, Prasidh Krishna was the standout bowler with 4/41.
For GT, Jos Buttler braved cramps and slammed an unbeaten 97 as they crushed DC by seven wickets to claim the top spot in the points table. Unfortunately Buttler missed out on what would’ve been a record-equalling eighth ton in IPL.
Lucknow Super Giants Edge Past Rajasthan Royals in a Jaipur Nailbiter
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won the toss and opted to bat first at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday evening. For Rajasthan Royals (RR), 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi finally made his IPL debut, replacing the injured Sanju Samson. Making him the
youngest player to do so. Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni both scored brisk half centuriesand Abdul Samad’s cameo against Sameed Sharma, for 4 sixes in the 20th over ensured LSG posted a decent total of 180/5. Wanindu Hasaranga stood out for RR with 2 wickets.
RR seemed in control of their innings till the 17th over, with Suryavanshi and Jaiswal at the crease. But with 25 needed off 18, Avesh struck with the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal for 74. Avesh bowled exceedingly tight in the last over, grasping the win from RR’s hand. For the
second game in a row, RR lost by just 2 runs after stumbling in a seemingly straightforward chase, unable to score nine off the final over. Avesh Khan’s death bowling for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), turned an easy win for RR to complete chaos. RR once again has managed to
snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. LSG have strengthened their position in the top 4 with this win.
The King Rules the Game against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur Mayhem
Once again Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) kept up its performance in an away game, taking revenge for the loss at home to defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) on their home ground. RCB captain Rajat Patidar elected to bowl first. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh came out
to bat with intent for PBKS. After a cautious start they started smashing the ball around the ground, reaching 62/1 after six overs, the highest powerplay score by any team against RCB this season. However, the momentum shifted drastically after the wickets of Arya and Singh.
Despite Josh Inglis’ 29 (17), Shashank’s 31* (33) and Jansen’s 25* (20) trying their best to put up a good score, tight bowling by RCB ensured that PBKS ended their innings with 157/6.
For RCB, Padikkal 61 (35) and Virat Kohli 73* (54) guided the score comfortably to 158/3 in 18.5 overs. This win has propelled RCB from 5th place to 3rd place in the IPL standings.
Mumbai’s Mighty Chase as Chennai add one more to their list of losses
Mumbai Indian’s (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Shivam Dube along with Ravindra Jadeja, both scored half centuries to take CSK to a decent score of 176/5 after 20 overs. Debutant Ayush Mhatre’s 15-ball 32 set the stage for CSK early on, while MS Dhoni had an evening to forget, departing for just 4 off Jasprit Bumrah who ended up taking 2 wickets.
Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav ran through the Chennai Super Kings bowling lineup as they chased down 177 runs in just 15.4 overs for the fall of just 1 wicket! This has almost sealed the exit of CSK from the playoffs.
Both Rohit and Kohli’s fans had a lot to cheer about to see both them get back in form in style as well as being declared the Players of the Match, for their respective matches.
Which of these teams do you think will make the final four?
